He believes the book's plainly-written, story-driven case studies of real building collapses make dense building-construction lessons memorable, and thinks every new firefighter should be required to read it and give a report on it.
“Collapse of Burning Buildings by Vincent Dunn. Read it. Read it. Then read it again. And then read it a third time. Read it three times. The book is written at a seventh grade level or an eighth grade level reading. I'm a horrible reader. I was horrible in school and everything else. That book is written perfectly.”
